Every Saturday morning I have an awesome Accountability group of guys that I grow with. We share our walks with Christ — successes and failures — and hold each other accountable in our walk with Jesus and in serving Him. It’s not easy, but it is necessary.

A quote was spoken by one of my brothers this morning that I felt needed to be more public than our little circle. It was about serving Christ.

“We should not be consumed with what we can’t do. We should be consumed by with what we CAN do.”

Great insight, my brother.

“He will have no fear of bad news;
his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”

Psalm 112:7

This Scripture has been very applicable to me in the recent weeks. And with falling helicopters (God be with the military families mourning the loss of their sons, husbands and fathers), falling stock markets, falling credit ratings, and falling accountability, this Scripture is all the more applicable in today’s world.

I came across this quote today and it has a lot of relevance and logic. Therefore I am sharing it.

“With hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, brush fires, mud slides, and severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of swine flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?”

I pledge allegiance
to the cross
that Jesus Christ died on.
And to the salvation
for which it stands
one way,
through Christ
unconditional
with forgiveness and eternity
for all….. who place their trust in Him.

I just returned from an awesome patriotic worship service at our home church. The men’s choir belted out some inspiring patriotic hymns, a recognition was given to all branches of the military and to those who have served, and the sermon was (as it is frequently) impactful and hit home.

While I am proud to be an American, as a believer in Jesus Christ, my home and true citizenship is in heaven. And it is through repentance, forgiveness and salvation where we find our true freedom.

One quote really hit home for this 4th of July holiday weekend. It was:

“The statue (of Liberty) liberates the citizen.
The cross liberates the soul.”

God bless the United States of America!

The quote below was in my morning devotions. It is particularly relevant because more and more in today’s culture public and private opinion standing as fact or gospel.

“Opinion is no substitute for the truth of God’s word.”

Amen!

While at the Chrysalis Flight 46 closing last night, this quote struck me as one that needs to be shared:

“If you are not growing closer to God, you are growing away from Him.”

I am still working in Oregon and going through the hundreds of work emails before I get on a plane tomorrow morning to go home. I am using this down time in the efforts to get my email inbox down to a managable size before next week.

While going through all my email, I came across on of the more enjoyable emails that hit my inbox from Max Lucado. It was about priorities, family and overtime. A quote that ended the inspirational email really hit me — so much that I stopped my work and decided to blog about it right here, right now.

“When it comes to kids and family, it is a lot easier to make money than to make up lost time.”

So true!

I recently stumbled across this quote and thought I had blogged about it before but, in searching through my archives, found I had not. Therefore, I am sharing with you.

“No other success can compensate for failure in the home.”

At my men’s group this morning, two statements really hit me this morning. I think one was a church sign I saw many moons ago.

Do not put a period where God has placed a comma.

The next time Satan reminds you of your past,
remind him of his future.
